REGISTRATION AND PRE-ENROLMENT

Registration Update:

** Please note, that D.S. Mackenzie School is full in planned classes in Grade 7, 8 and 9 in the Regular program for the current (2023-2024) school year. We will now only accept resident students in Grade 7, 8 and 9 who have newly moved into the school's attendance area. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

WELCOME TO THE 2024-2025 REGISTRATION SEASON

The 2024-2025 registration season will begin on February 1st, 2024. Below we have provided you with a list of questions and answers to help you navigate registering your child for next year (both at D.S. MacKenzie and any EPSB school). Check back frequently as we are continually adding new information.

Q1. Where can my child attend school?

Edmonton Public School Board is a Division of choice meaning you can try to register at any school. Acceptance will be granted based on the availability of space in planned classes, residency, attendance controls in effect and in some cases, admission criteria. You can use this tool <click here> to find the school that you are guaranteed enrolment at. At D.S. MacKenzie, we guarantee enrolment into our school to resident students of our attendance area first, and offer the remaining spaces to students who are interested in our school from all over the city. In previous school years, we have filled the majority of grades during pre-enrollment so it is important to make your decision prior to 4:00 pm on March 22, 2024.

  • Current students of EPSB can enroll for next year using SchoolZone <click here>
  • New to EPSB students can start enrolling on February 1st, 2024 <click here>

Q2. When is your Open House?

  • Our Open house is scheduled for Thursday February 8th, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Please see link to be directed to our Virtual Open House

Q3. How do I register for D.S. MacKenzie  school?

      • Students that are currently residents of Edmonton Public School Board can enrol for D.S. MacKenzie starting on February 1st, 2024.
      • Students that will be new to Edmonton Public School Board can enrol starting on February 1st, 2024. If you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online. Instead of using SchoolZone, students who are new to Edmonton Public Schools need to submit a completed digital Student Registration form.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out through email dsmackenzie@epsb.ca  or give us a call at 780-438-9103.

Q4. Have you recently Moved?

  • Please update your child’s current address with the school office before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone.

Q5. Do you want your child to learn online?

  • Online learning at Argyll Centre:  Families of Grade 1-12 students who would like to learn online for the 2024-25 school year can register or pre-enroll at Argyll Centre. More information is available on the Division website.

Q6. I hear your school is a "Student owned device school" What does that mean?

  • Student-Owned Device Plan - At D.S. MacKenzie, all grade 7‐9 students are required to bring a student‐owned device which supports relevant and engaging instruction and learning. With teacher direction, students will use their own devices (preferably a Chromebook) in the classroom to access assignments, research information, communicate with other learners, and use productivity tools to demonstrate their learning.

Submit your child’s absence in SchoolZone!

You can now use SchoolZone to report when your child will be absent from school. This new feature is optional for Division schools, and our school is excited to participate!

On your mobile phone or desktop computer, enter your child’s absence starting a week before it occurs or up to the day they are absent. Sign in to SchoolZone, choose the Student Profile menu and then Attendance to enter an absence.

If you prefer to call the school or email Mrs. Painchaud <click here> or Ms. Kimble <click here> to report an absence, you can continue to do so.
